iPhone
A little while ago Apple announced its iPhone. Not only does the gadget boast a full media player but also incorporates the function of a cell phone and PDA. The phone is expected to see US markets in June under Cingular and will be unveiled in
I am expecting the first model to have plenty of bugs. I suspect scratching and dirt to accumulate on the touch screen. Also, I bet the web/email features to be worse than PDAs. It will also fail as a cell phone, because I doubt the battery life will be any descent.
However, the important thing is Apple is getting into the cell phone market under its own name now, This means two things for us consumers. First we might see competitors try to bring more useful user-friendly handsets in hopes of beating Apple at their game. Second (after they realize option A is futile) I expect more and more companies to start creating lots of feature-free ultra-low-costs handsets (which means an expanded market as more and more 3rd world countries become able to afford cell phones).

You have seen the web and email features, right? Because those are both better than anything I've ever seen on any phone or PDA. Ever.
My RSS is still screwed up.
Re: dino
I have seen it, however, I think it will be worse in the end. It will be buggy and will work properly for few websites and for most it will have Safari incompatabilities and big screen incompatabilities and a load of other problems I think.

Except that the iPhone is running an entirely WebKit based Safari. It's pretty much Safari on a standard OS with a slightly modified interface. And if you're talking about incompatibilities with Safari in general, then you're way off there. I have come across only one website that doesn't work properly in Safari (3D Gamers has issues when I try to log in). Of course there's a lot of web apps that don't work, but that's due to specific features that aren't present in WebKit.
Of course, you could be right about the whole buggy thing, but I'd wait until it comes out before I'd start making such predictions. I mean, there's still another 5 months until this thing gets released.
They already have have such devices out there, Apple will just make it better selling :P and probably at a m re realistic price, then Sony will make one thats cheaper, but that no one buys because its considered a knockoff. Anyhow there are multipul different devices that try to combine everything. For instance my dad owns one that is a Camera/PDA/PC/MP3 Player/Video player/Phone. There are tons of MP3 Phones, most that have cameras in them. The concept itself has been conceived long before it became possible. If apple does make one, it will just make them mainstream and reasonable priced.

Its not the fact that this device is "new" that makes it interesting. It is the way it combines things. More so, the new way of making the touchscreen and working that functionality into everything is interesting. Sure there are many Camera/PDA/PC/MP3 Player/Video player/Phone (take my computer for instance :P) but there is no such device which has the new way of input and seemless integration (which hopefully the seond iPhone will have (I don't have much hope for this first one... I bet it will be retarded in some essential way that they don't mention (like battery life or something)).
